After all the bad reviews, I
couldn't wait to see what is so bad about this movie. And I was very
pleasantly surprised. This is one of the most feminist movies I have
seen in a long time. I did not notice any political incorrectness. In
fact, UAE's culture was overglamurised like a tourist promotion.
The reality is a lot worse. They didn't even show a single instance
of any proper sexual harassment on the street, except a bit to Samantha, which of cause would have
happened to these women. I also don't understand this silly notion
that one is supposed to respect, care, or be interested in some culture,
especially when they have to pay 22 000 per night for it (speaking of
hospitality lol – blows like a wind lol). I mean: cannibals have
culture, costumes, and beliefs. Samantha has mentality. But no one
cares to be politically correct about that. Personally, I am not
ashamed at all to say, out loud, that I have no drop of respect for
any women-hating culture regardless what it is, Christian, or Islam,
or Whatever.
The reviews of this movie have really demonstrated to me just how much our society, even Western, is still womenphobic. I think the critisism of this movie is bigger than of Polanski raping a child. It's like: "OMG, women are enjoying themselves without been afraid! How there can even be a movie that shows women's life after 40! Let alone in a strange land!" LOL
